It's a boy!!!!

Well the new baby had a surprise in store for all of us and decided not to hold out until March 10th, but to make an early appearance. On March 1st, 2007 at 7:29 am our son Dashiell Carter made his grand entrance into this world via c-section, and weighed in at 7 lbs 12 oz and was 19.5 inches long.

Dashiell's name was inspired by the novelist Dashiell Hammett, author of such works as The Maltese Falcon and The Thin Man. The Maltese Falcon is one of our favourite movies and we actually watched it the night before he was born. Carter is Ben's mother's maiden name as well as Ben's middle name.

Christine seems to regard Dashiell with some suspicion, curiosity and general wariness. I'm sure jealously will come into play in the next couple of weeks as well. Although both Dashiell and myself are doing well, I am recovering from the surgery and subsequently can't pick Christine up which she's not too impressed with.

I have renamed the title of the blog to The Adventures of Christine and Dashiell although the actual website address will retain it's original name. So here are some introductory pictures to our little boy, with his big sister.
